I'm not the only person to take an interest in backs, but in a different context, here's Peter Oetzmanns work in Hotshoe magazine. By the way, I recently discovered Hotshoe magazine and I rather like it. Yet another subscription I think...http://www.hotshoeinternational.com/home.do It also contains hilarious ads for "focus on imaging 2007" where the camera becomes an uncertain penis extension. I'm not sure what that says about my photographing backs... Anyway...Although my photography is at best amateur, the Olympus ad in Hotshoe Feb/Mar gives me encouragement; If a professional photographer can get away with such attracious photography, anyone can do it! I also discovered "Source" magazine recently, the current issue has a lovely set of photos of Christian vicars; I know... Odd thing to hear from an atheist, but the religious are not the enemy, reguardless of what Richard Dawkins may think! People who disagree with you are never enemies, until they try to abuse and kill you. Although my experiences with vicars has never been positive, none has actually tried to abuse or kill me! Photography has always inspired more sympathy in me for the rest of humanity, than just intereacting. Why? Because life doesn't pause for reflection, photographs create a pause for you to consider what it is to be another human. Humanity often gets lost in the noise of everyday life, isolate a moment in time and the details come into focus, the important things you miss. Photography is a meditation of the light that passes over life. I mean that in a non-religious way of course! I'll stop babbling now...
